5 Tips For Keeping Your Pet Safe During New Years Eve Celebrations
We can’t believe it’s almost the end of the year! It has been an incredible year for us, and we hope it has been for you, too!
Whether you’re celebrating the year with a night on the town or at home, we have five tips for making the evening as fun for your furry friends as it is for you. Keep Your Pets Indoors: If you’re throwing a party or going out for the evening it might be tempting to put your pooch outside. However, fireworks and other loud noises can scare your dog and it might try to run away. Scared dogs have been known to even jump fences to get away, so it’s best to keep your pooch indoors. Watch the Door: If you’re planning on having guests over, make sure that they watch the door as they come in and out of your home so that your furry family members don’t get out. Be Mindful of Noise: Chatty guests, fireworks, noisemakers, and popping champagne all make a party great, but the noise can also cause anxiety for your pet. Keep your pet in a room away from all the commotion, or keep the noise level down as much as possible. Pet-Friendly Foods Only: Many of us make resolutions to be healthier in the New Year, but when it comes to your pet, it’s best not to wait. Avoid feeding your pet too many table scraps, and avoid foods that can be poisonous like alcohol, chocolate or xylitol (a sweetener). Be Careful With Decorations: Decorations like confetti can be a fun addition to your party, but your pet might think they’re a snack. Keep decorations away from your pets to avoid a potential trip to the veterinary clinic. Thank you for all of your support in 2018, and we would like to wish you a happy and healthy New Year!
